Recently we received a brief to ensure patrons security wristbands be waterproof & able to remain immersed in chlorinated water for at least a 12 hour period. The wristband should also contribute to the promotion of the waterparks brand & it’s fun image, but it didn’t stop there the wristband was also to contribute to the waterparks security processes, crowd identification & access control procedures. Internal systems at the park would enable patron’s with the wristbands fast access to any attraction at the waterpark by reducing customers wait in line time.

Radio Frequency Identification ( RFID ) security wristbands are here.
These high security ID bands contain a silicone chip & and antenna that can transmit data to a wireless receiver, in the future they will revolutionise the security needs of the events industry.
Unlike barcodes which need to be scanned manually & read individually ( you actually have to see the barcode in order to read it), RFID wristbands & credentials do not require line of sight for reading. Within the field of a wireless reading device, it is possible to automatically read hundreds of wristbands very quickly. Not only can Wizid RFID wristbands be read faster than barcodes, they also contain more information, so information may be recalled more efficiently.

Barcodes a success for data capture
Barcodes used by Wizid P/l are simply a unique identifier with structured information about the event, session, ticket & buyer types. Typically this information is printed on the ticket, credential or wristband in text format for the patrons to read, however this familar information is unreadable by electronic systems. Now with barcode reading hardware & computing software, the unique identifier of the barcode provides direct access to stored data & rapid retrieval & display of information. The barcode serves as a key to a database.
This information can be used for a multitude of purposes from verification that the patrons have the correct pass to the event or a specific area within the venue, to determining attendance loads through specific entrances, time in the venue & peak arrival times by differing groups.
Some typical applications where barcodes on wristbands are used for event security & data capture are :
